The Vitro Agate Co., opened in 1932 in Parkersburg, West Virginia. It was acquired by The Gladding corp. in 1969 and became The Gladding-Vitro Agate Company. Paris Manufacturing purchased the company in 1982 and changed the name back to Vitro Agate. In 1982, the Viking Rope Co. acquired the firm and operated it from Anacortes, Washington until 1993 when it ceased production. Soon after the machinery and name was purchased by JABO, inc. who changed the name to JABO-Vitro Agate Company. They ceased operation in 2007.
